Send Them a Postcard: Let Old Glory Fly!

Like many, I am truly stunned to hear reports about a US military veteran being threatened by legal action by his home owners association for flying an appropriately displayed United States flag. My resentment and disbelieve over the actions of this disrespectful and callous organization of thugs is beyond measurement. Please view the links below and act accordingly:

Houston, We Have A Problem!

The sole toilet system on the international space station has broken leaving the astronaut crew feeling like a kid trapped in the family station-wagon and desperately waiting for dad to find a rest-stop. Big Gulp™ anyone?! The toilet remains partially functional, and the astronauts have managed to rig up a system using bags to capture waste materials. 'The possibility of an embarrassing international zero-gravity poo incident have been avoided for now' stated an unnamed NASA official. The Russian made toilet has broken several times before, but this time it appears to have pooped-out for good! Until a repair can be made or a replacement can be delivered the astronaut team will be left high and dry... well maybe not so dry. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Let's hope they don't try to shoot it out the airlock like Sigourney Weaver in Aliens.
This reader is left wondering: Where is the ingenuity that saved the crew of the stranded Apollo 13 ,which has since been dubbed a 'successful failure'. How is it a bunch of guys can make a life-saving air filter out of nearly nothing but space junk, yet we can't get a simple toilet repair? Let me get this straight.. all that money and engineering and they have one toilet... and now they're using bags? Please someone tell me that when we decide to go back to the moon, we'll at least strap a backup toilet or design a rocket Johnny Blue. Sending people into space with a million dollar recycled MIR toilet just doesn't cut-it.

I Know Where You Can Park That Hybrid!

Hey it's so awesome that all these people are rushing out to pay up to $23,770 for a Toyota Prius and comparable 'hybrids' to save fuel when the 1991 GEO Metro was getting similar mileage while listing at about 9k! Thanks to CNN's Mallory Simon for pointing out this scam to the general misinformed public. Apparently the Metro sub-compact is making a comeback in the used market, and there's no doubt why.

The sad thing is all the people who, after being brainwashed by Al Gore, rushed out to save the world with their pricey hybrids. Guess you shoulda looked 'old school' first! So what exactly is the benefit of hybrids? emissions alone? Can't we just mod better emissions on the old subcompacts? With the big oiltards screwing us over for insane profits I'm starting to wonder where that old 97 honda civic hatchback went to?

PS: I'm guessing they didn't run the mileage on this metro:

Big OilTards Blackmail, Subvert American Democracy.

Big oil execs are under the gun in 2 days of heated Senate Judiciary Hearings. At one point Sen. Richard Durbin, D-Ill. questioned them "You have to sense what you're doing to us - we're on the precipice here, about to fall into recession... Does it trouble any one of you - the costs you're imposing on families, on small businesses, on truckers?" The head Oiltards were undaunted by the blunt questioning and instead deferred blame to OPEC for controlling output for self-benefit. They were also however very quick to revive the ideas of drilling in the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge and other protected national treasures. "The place to start the free market is in our own country. [The drilling ban] sets the stage for OPEC to do what we are doing in our own country, and that is effectively limiting supplies."
The execs claim that high crude costs and low output is determining the high costs of fuel at the pumps despite the fact that they have invested minimally, amidst record profits, to increase refining capability. "You know how much cash you have on hand compared to capital investment" Durban reminded the forgetful mob of corrupt neo-capitalists.

It's awfully funny that after three or four failed attempts to gain access to protected areas for oil that we're now seeing congressional hearings about record prices, economic downfall, and access to protected areas. Apparently these guys just don't get it: Their request for access to protected areas was denied through a legitimate democratic process. Additionally, the Big Oiltard's claim that they have no ties to skyrocketing prices domestically is a joke. Why is it that just across the border in Mexico, fuel prices are nearly half the price that they are here? Does Mexico have better refining capability? Better infrastructure? Does Mexico pay less for imported crude? Or is this about capacity to pay? Let's face it Americans are rich (by world standards) and generally willing to pay. The problem is that these crooks have taken capitalism too far. We've moved from a symbiotic relationship with oil companies to a relationship that is now parasitic. They are harming the host... the middle class. (If you haven't been keeping up lately: The middle class pays the majority of taxes and is widely regarded as the heartbeat of the American economy.

Their attempt to leverage economic health with their goals of increased domestic access is harmful and possibly treasonous. Who do they think they are to try to override the congress and the American democratic process with this 'economic health for domestic access' blackmail? The decision has been made and now these companies collude to override the will of the people. Everyone should be alarmed and demand action from congress!
