NPR Fires Juan Williams: Censorship or Journalistic Integrity???
Juan Williams, formerly of NPR, was fired after making comments about people who identify 'first and foremost' as Muslims. He made the statements as a guest analyst/commentator on Bill O'Reilly's The Factor. Here are some components of how this story is developing so far.

Spousal abuse is the crime of a selfish coward. MOST IMPORTANTLY.. This guy's life is salvageable if he's willing to seek professional help. It's not like he's brutally murdered someone. Seriously though, we should setup a fund to buy O.J. an SUV when he gets out of prison, so he can do a Thelma & Louise re-enactment for us.

Obama Admin on Oil Crisis: No You Can't!!!
The Obama administration blocked efforts by government scientists to tell the public just how bad the Gulf oil spill could become, according to a commission appointed by the president to investigate the disaster." - http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/39539761
If this is true, and it seems to be the case that it is, people should be outraged!!! People should demand answers, and people should demand accountability! What a sham this whole effort was if, meanwhile, our administration was using totalitarian Chinese government propaganda tactics to keep the truth from people that were already being devastated in the region. I don't know about you, but this pisses me off and I want answers!

Cato: Police Recordings Proper, Protected!
Cato displays excellent examples here! Public officials, including the police, are and should be accountable. The biggest hindrance to constitutionally protected rights is the general public's lack of basic knowledge or awareness of them! Know your rights people! Always be respectful to police & public officials.. but do not allow for your rights to be arbitrarily and unconstitutionally revoked!!! People have fought wars and died for us to have these cherished rights.

Some People HATE Us...
Some people HATE us. They HATE that we're free to be religious or not. They HATE that we have a melting-pot country without genocide. They HATE our liberal arts. They HATE that we have the most selfless volunteer military in history. They HATE that we 'have a dream' and that we strive to reach it with unity and purpose! But friends, these things can only be taken from us if we allow the HATE that fueled 9/11 to infect our hearts with intolerance. That is our only true weakness as a people. So on this anniversary of a most HATEFUL act on American soil, let's renew the promise to ourselves to NEVER forget 9/11. Never forget the victims, the heroes, and the pain... and just as importantly never forget WHY!Photo by MPW (as seen from the Staten Island Ferry, 9/11/04) *Link to Site

PITBULL Saves Family from Armed Intruder...
Burn it into your memory because it's a headline that you won't see often. Instead CNN chooses 'Dog Takes Bullet for Family'(video) and local station KOKO5 runs with 'Dog Shot During Home Invasion.'(video) Critics talk about media bias all the time in regards to political or social agendas. The discussion is often blown off with the everyday rhetoric that we have to consume en-route to the 20 second soundbite that's supposed to tell us everything going on in the world (at the moment.) But these headlines shouldn't just be accepted as 'business as usual' and this PITBULL story is a great example for that argument. The reporting of this incident shows clear bias regarding an entire breed of dog. It is the continuance of the cruel and inhumane stereotype by the popular media that the Pitbull is not a canine worthy of the title 'man's best friend.' The stereotyping of Bully breeds is one that is built mostly on ignorance and it's disappointing that major news agencies have chosen to participate. These media outlets are easily aware of the consequences of reckless inaccurate reporting and people like you and me need to take them to task for it every time that we see it. They have a journalistic responsibility to tell the complete story and in this case they avoided it in order to protect their cash cow: Pit Bull related terror headlines.
Think about it folks.. queue music... queue logo... 'Pitbull Attacks Grandmother' live at 6! And don't miss 'Pitbulls Running the Streets of Your Neighborhood' Live at 11! Naturally, none of these hooks that they use to get you to watch their program and their paid advertising tend to follow-up with a complete story. They omit that the grandmother-victim was mauled by a Pitbull that was abused, never properly cared for, and never socialized as all domesticated dogs require. It's the dogs fault right?!? Not the intelligent ones, the responsible ones, the ones that make them fight to live... the humans... who over bred them (continuing bad bloodlines), didn't care for them, and fostered this false perception of a 'bad breed' with their recklessness. I still hold hope that we're all intelligent enough to know that this perception is built on media hype and irresponsible dog owners. Despite the fact that even the CDC has published studies showing that no one breed of domesticated dogs is more likely to bite than another, we're all smart enough to know bullshit when we see & hear it... right?

As the responsible owner of a sweet, playful, loyal, and athletic Pitbull, I often explain to anyone who will listen that Pitbulls have been a part of American culture as far back as our nations beginnings. They were used as an icon for the American Military in WWI. It was a Pitbull named 'stubby' that made it as the highest decorated canine hero in US history and he rose to the rank of Sergeant in combat duty promotions. They used him to alert for gas attacks and incoming shells and he was even creditied with the capture of a spying soldier. That was stubby, then you have the little rascals' Pete, Tige of the Buster Brown shoe commercials and more. During this time, the Pitbull was an American hero. This breed's fall from grace is due to nothing else but human recklessness and irresponsibility. These are the facts folks. What you get on the news now is scare tactics and 'zombie dogs attacking' headlines that are designed to create panic and to get you to watch commercials.
It's a disgrace that we don't take more responsibility in our ownership of these beautiful and loving companions. It's a disgrace that we have policies in some communities that mandate the banning or euthanasia of any bully breed dog. It's a cop-out. Finally, a good story comes along about a Pitbull doing what dogs do.. loving it's family and being a best friend. It's an absolute disgrace that the media doesn't do the right thing and tell the whole story in this situation. What does it hurt to put 'Pitbull' in the headline this time? Why is this case different? These dogs have been implicated in a lot of terrible attacks and situations. But I'll argue until the day that I die that their implication isn't proof of guilt. The guilt lies with us humans. We should know better than to raise our dogs this way. We should all take responsibility for the past abuses of our communities and work to return Pitbulls to their rightful place as trusted family companions. Report abuse, get informed, and hold yourself and your neighbors accountable for how animals are treated. The next time that you see a 'Pitbull story' in the news don't forget to read between the lines!

I was both impressed and jealous over this brilliantly made speech at the EU Parliament. A Brown Ribbon for George Carlin...
George Carlin explains the Brown Ribbon...
“The whole problem with this idea of obscenity and indecency, and all of these things — bad language and whatever — it’s all caused by one basic thing, and that is: religious superstition,” Carlin told the AP in a 2004 interview. “There’s an idea that the human body is somehow evil and bad and there are parts of it that are especially evil and bad, and we should be ashamed. Fear, guilt and shame are built into the attitude toward sex and the body. ... It’s reflected in these prohibitions and these taboos that we have.” -MSNBC.com

Houston, We Have A Problem!
The sole toilet system on the international space station has broken leaving the astronaut crew feeling like a kid trapped in the family station-wagon and desperately waiting for dad to find a rest-stop. Big Gulp™ anyone?! The toilet remains partially functional, and the astronauts have managed to rig up a system using bags to capture waste materials. 'The possibility of an embarrassing international zero-gravity poo incident have been avoided for now' stated an unnamed NASA official. The Russian made toilet has broken several times before, but this time it appears to have pooped-out for good! Until a repair can be made or a replacement can be delivered the astronaut team will be left high and dry... well maybe not so dry. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Let's hope they don't try to shoot it out the airlock like Sigourney Weaver in Aliens.
This reader is left wondering: Where is the ingenuity that saved the crew of the stranded Apollo 13 ,which has since been dubbed a 'successful failure'. How is it a bunch of guys can make a life-saving air filter out of nearly nothing but space junk, yet we can't get a simple toilet repair? Let me get this straight.. all that money and engineering and they have one toilet... and now they're using bags? Please someone tell me that when we decide to go back to the moon, we'll at least strap a backup toilet or design a rocket Johnny Blue. Sending people into space with a million dollar recycled MIR toilet just doesn't cut-it.Sources: CNN / MovieWeb / IGN

I Know Where You Can Park That Hybrid!
PS: I'm guessing they didn't run the mileage on this metro:
Big OilTards Blackmail, Subvert American Democracy.
The execs claim that high crude costs and low output is determining the high costs of fuel at the pumps despite the fact that they have invested minimally, amidst record profits, to increase refining capability. "You know how much cash you have on hand compared to capital investment" Durban reminded the forgetful mob of corrupt neo-capitalists.
It's awfully funny that after three or four failed attempts to gain access to protected areas for oil that we're now seeing congressional hearings about record prices, economic downfall, and access to protected areas. Apparently these guys just don't get it: Their request for access to protected areas was denied through a legitimate democratic process. Additionally, the Big Oiltard's claim that they have no ties to skyrocketing prices domestically is a joke. Why is it that just across the border in Mexico, fuel prices are nearly half the price that they are here? Does Mexico have better refining capability? Better infrastructure? Does Mexico pay less for imported crude? Or is this about capacity to pay? Let's face it Americans are rich (by world standards) and generally willing to pay. The problem is that these crooks have taken capitalism too far. We've moved from a symbiotic relationship with oil companies to a relationship that is now parasitic. They are harming the host... the middle class. (If you haven't been keeping up lately: The middle class pays the majority of taxes and is widely regarded as the heartbeat of the American economy.
Their attempt to leverage economic health with their goals of increased domestic access is harmful and possibly treasonous. Who do they think they are to try to override the congress and the American democratic process with this 'economic health for domestic access' blackmail? The decision has been made and now these companies collude to override the will of the people. Everyone should be alarmed and demand action from congress!

Same Singer.. Different Tune...
The ridiculously hypocritical reverend then produced an intelligence insulting excuse/whining defense of his moronic anti-American hate speech. He claimed that his comments were taken out of context and that in context to black religious tradition his comments were reasonable. My bad! I was just an out of touch "european-american" when I grew up not noticing that the black America that the good reverend speaks for secretly engages in self-hating, America bashing behavior. His eloquent and somewhat entertaining attempt to rally a pseudo community behind his crappy choice to share his idiocy in past public appearances defies common sense. Instead of showing some responsibility for his poor choice of words and apologizing for the hate speech, he's trying to hide behind a fictitious and microscopic community that, if it does exist, is as petty and insignificant as his initial commentary. Reverend, I know Jesus. Jesus had balls and stepped up and was responsible for what he started. You are a hypocrite and a loudmouth. When you spew hate-speech about your country the target is raceless. We are all Americans here... unfortunately even you.
It's laughable that the Reverend also attempts to hide behind the old 'you just don't understand us' excuse. Many if not most younger people in our country have learned from the tired, divisive, & oppressive attitudes of the civil rights era. So approaching a younger 'European-American' culture that you don't 'get' with your predisposition and antiquated expectations is patently hypocritical as well. BTW, I prefer being called a 'White American.' My family/blood connections to Europe were long.. long ago, and have little to no bearing on my life today. So welcome.. welcome to the 21st century Reverend Dumbass. Now please sit down and shut up! Stop clouding an important race with capable candidates with your ego and stupidity.

Goodbye MSNBC, Hello CNN...

Well the time has come for me to explain myself. I have removed all RSS links for BSNBC (Yes I'm well aware of the mistake), and replaced them with CNN. The reasoning behind this decision is one that started shortly before the hypocrisy that was 'the Imus in the Morning Debacle' and built up in the aftermath. Prior to the Imus thing MSNBC had undergone some management changes that put prettyboy Dan Abrams large and in charge. And the gutlessness and accountability levels in the network's coverage have gone separate directions since.
Starting with the Imus ordeal, which I could go on about endlessly... Oh irony of all ironies!!! Here's Joe 'holier than thou' Scarborough and David Gregory bashing Imus after appearing on his show time after time and engaging in the childish, humorous and entertaining routine. Et tu MSNBC? The on air personalities scattered like bugs out from under an overturned rock revealing their hypocracy, and eat your own - CYA mentality. Where'd you scurry off to Tim Russert?
The facts are, as I see them, simple: Imus is an idiot not a racist. He'll even admit to that. He's also a humorous idiot. He also appologized profusely. A 6 month suspension would have been both appropriate and smart. Instead pipsqueak and the MSNBC admin decided that they would tear a hole in the entire institution and break up their structure and reliability for a firing. I hardly think that the punishment fit the crime considering how fast MSNBC was willing to book Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson after the incient. Consider some of the controversial comments that they've made! I personally respect Al and love to see him speak, yet he has said things that I find equally as reprehensible as the Imus comments. Jackson fits that description as well.
Then there's the coverage of the Clinton campaign (whom I do not politically support), and the arguments between her camp and MSNBC, which were allowed to leak into coverage and headline slant. It was obvious to anyone with a brain that the MSNBC coverage changed once they were challenged by the Clintons. What a joke.
I've suffered enough of this mockery of reporting and credibility. So like everyone else who once was a huge fan, I've left MSNBC, and encourage others to do so as well. The ratings and advertising market is the only way the viewer can speak and MANY of us have spoken. It's a shame that I will have to miss out on such gems as Chris Mathews and the dissent of Keith Olberman but, MSNBC you are todays and tomorrow's WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD!
CNN, has always been a guilty pleasure and I always felt like I was cheating when I flipped the channel. But their coverage is fair, they even have some old credible MSNBC faces like Cambell Brown! They have seriously ramped up their political coverage and I would argue that it is the best in complexity, presentation, and fairness on cable news. With that said.. Goodbye BSNBC and hello...

The Tazer Tango...
So lately there's been a disturbing national trend of serious injury and fatalities due to taser use that may or may not have been questionable on the part of the law enforcement involved. The media has been working itself to a froth with dash-cam footage, local news footage, and average Joe with a digicam footage of everyday people doing the newest dance sensation in the USA, the taser tango. Usually it involves one misguided 'normal' person, and one or several law enforcement personnel with what appears to be an itching to do a forceable version of the electric slide. The media would have you believe that it's a crisis, all these taser deaths and injuries, and it is indeed a tragedy at the least! But I tend to fall into this school of thought:
If you don't want to run the risk of injury or, unfortunately, possible death.. DON'T FIGHT WITH THE POLICE! Golly that's simple to figure out. They have guns, they have clubs, and they have tasers! They also have a job to do that the average person wouldn't touch. You have the right to remain silent and get a lawyer. So please help yourself and do just that! I can't talk about the old days because I've only graced this planet for about 28 years, but what ever happened to respecting the police? Yeah you're pissed about the speeding ticket and the injustice in the world. How dare that cop talk to you like that, ticket you, or ask you to allow others to talk at a public forum! Meanwhile somewhere out in the world children are being sold into slavery, and people are getting violently killed because of their religion. What ever happened to having a little perspective! Yes you do have rights, and yes people died so you could have them! But acting like an entitled sniffling little candy-*** baby isn't a right as far as the constitution is concerned, so until your lobby can get that amendment added.. DON'T FIGHT WITH THE POLICE! My guess is that 99.9999% of the time you will lose. The only level playing field is a court of law.. (on a good day.)
These knuckle-heads have to understand that your job when interacting with the police is to balance the safeguarding of your rights with the understanding that for safety reasons they are trained dominate and control the situation. Because we have a judicial system 'making a stand' in some of these situations is pointless, and only creates chaos that can put you, the officer, and the surrounding public at risk. Case and point is the 'Don't Tase Me Bro' guy. If he'd have gone to court, people would have been long talking about the significance of the ruling on civil liberties. Instead his poor choice made the issue into office water-cooler joke. He really stood up for the cause alright. I do believe that the taser should not have been used in this case, but people have to understand that the police have to control the situation as a matter of public safety. This guy's irrational and aggressive behavior only agitated the situation, and put the very-much human and fallible police presence in a position of having to make a quick decision for the surrounding public and themselves. Yes they made a poor choice in using the taser, but my observation in this 'type' of situation is that it takes two to do the taser tango!
